Wash day

Hi there!

I made it, finally I got it in my schedule! I will keep it close now, what may you ask? The mid-week wash and deep conditionning! I managed to keep my schedule on track in order to wash and DC today. I'm so glad I did.
I washed with the Kerastase Oleo-relax line that I use on and off. Do not get me wrong: it's an excellent product line but the price tag and I are not friends. In France, it's less expensive respect to the US price tag but I think it's too expensive for what it is. I do not know why but I always end up repurchasing it. I gess I could add it to my staple list and make it permanent in my product stash. For some reason, I can't get myself to stick to it.

Back to the products.
I shampooed once with the Kerastase Oleo-relax shampoo. This shampoo instantly makes my hair soft like butter. I detangled my hair before rinsing the shampoo. I got absolutely no tangle. This is the only shampoo so far that I can detangle with.
After rinsing the shampoo, I squeezed the excess water and then apply the Kerastase Oleo-relax slim mask. This product always leave my hair the softest it can be but I prefer the old formula Kerastase Oleo-relax. I've used in the past faithfully this old formula and saw good results. Even though I was having a dominican blow out every week with a lot of heat, my hair was very healthy.
The new formula has a stronger smell but is thicker than the old version. The smell is nice but too strong and lingers in your hair for days.
I went under my steamer with the Kerastase Oleo-relax slim DC.
Soft city! My hair is thriving right now.

I accidently textlaxed during my last relaxer. I was not happy for a while but I have to admit that I'm loving the texture it leaves in my hair.
Some texture shots: first with the deep conditionner and after rinsing the conditionner, no product added

Who knows, I might start texlaxing from now on. I haven't decided yet.

PJ Alert : Ojon damage reverse

 Hi people!
I went to Sephora today and to my big surprise they now carry the Ojon line in the stores in France.
Well actually they only carry samples of few Ojon lines but you can order the full size bottles.

I probably never mentionned it but I'm a frequent traveller. I always carry samples size of my favourite products or trying new ones.  I also shop exclusively in my samples stash when packing before travelling.
The Ojon damage reverse shampoo and conditionner are the next one to try on my next trip. The review is yet to come.

Those who tryied it already, how did you like it, or not?

Coconut oil

Hi people!

What? already another post? Sounds strange for those of you who are familiar with my blog! yeah, yeah, yeah, I know... I'm trying to focus again on my hair journey.
So today, I would like to discuss Coconut oil as you would gess from the title.

At the beginning of my hair journey, I hated this oil in my hair. Do not get me wrong, I love the coconut oil smell, but the effects on my hair, no, mmm, no, No, oh no!
Researching in the internet, most of the article state how this oil could strengthen your strands when added in your regimen but for me it was a whole different story. My soft hair would turn hard as soon as coconut oil would touch it. When combing my hair, I would find small pieces everywhere!
Talk about strengthening...

I stayed away from Coconut oil for a while beacause of this curious reaction from my strands.
I rediscovered it a year ago, when I wanted to get rid of my big unused jar. I first started mixing it with avocado oil or jojoba oil to seal after moisturizing. The result was amazingly soft but strong hair. I could not believe it. I checked every area of my regimen to understand this sudden change. I'm simply using less protein respect to the beginning of my journey. This hindered me from receiving all the benefits from this marvellous oil.
I learn it well: before ditching any product, give it a chance to work with different combinations first and keep an eye on your current protein/moisture balance!

Benefits for my hair:
  • Stronger hair
  • Soft hair
  • Shiny hair
  • no more dry hair
It's my first oil of choice now when it comes to sealing or for a hot oil treatment.

What was your experience with coconut oil? please share.

Wash days

Hi People!
From months now, I've been struggling to get back to DC x2 a week.
When I started my hair care journey, it was the easiest thing. I dedicated time to all the steps of my regimen.
Life became more hectic in the past months and the mid-week DC is now skipped.
I've been trying to add it back but I have not succeed yet to be consistent again.

Yes, consistency! I believe that this is the main driver of any success in most life goals.

I've made wash days easier now that I mainly DC on dry hair. My hair likes it, so the mid-week wash should be a simple cowash after DCing on dry hair.
I'll try to implement it this coming week and be consistent.

Wash day program for 3 weeks:
  • DC on dry hair
  • Wash with hairone
  • Apply leave-in conditionner and coconut oil to seal
  • Air dry and then style
Mid-week cowash
  • DC on dry hair
  • Cowash
  • Apply leave-in conditionner and coconut oil to seal
  • Air dry and then style
4th week wash program: clarifying wash:
  • prepoo with oils
  • clarifying shampoo
  • DC
  • Apply leave-in conditionner and coconut oil to seal
  • Air dry and then style
This will be the program I'll try to stick to for the coming 3 months.
I'll be throwing protein in some of the DC sessions in order to avoid moisture oveload.
